Message from Chairman, EIRC
Dear Professional Colleagues,
Greetings!
July has been a remarkable month for the Eastern India Regional Council, marked by learning, collaboration, service and celebration. Every initiative undertaken during the month reflected our unwavering commitment to strengthening the profession, embracing emerging opportunities and creating meaningful value for our members, students and society at large. The enthusiastic participation of our members and students across the Region continues to inspire us to strive for excellence and deliver programmes of the highest standards.
One of the most significant achievements during the month has been the allotment of Room No. B-3 within the premises of the Goods and Services Tax Appellate Tribunal (GSTAT), Kolkata Bench, located at 2/5, Judges Court Road, Alipore, Kolkata, to us for the use of our member in relation to the activities of GSTAT. This landmark development will greatly benefit members practising in the field of Indirect Tax by providing a dedicated professional space within the Tribunal premises for interaction and knowledge sharing.
The month commenced on a proud and celebratory note with the observance of the 78th CA Day on 1st July 2026. The ICAI Flag was ceremonially hoisted at both ICAI Bhawan, Russell Street and ICAI Bhawan, Kasba, in the gracious presence of Regional Council Members, Past Chairmen of EIRC, Past Central Council Members from the Region, office bearers of various Study Circles and a large gathering of members and students.
As part of the CA Day celebrations, Blood Donation Camps were organised at both ICAI premises in association with the Lions Club of Kolkata, Mother Teresa Sarani and the Lions Club of Kolkata, Sapphire. The initiative witnessed an encouraging response resulting in the collection of 62 units of blood, reaffirming our profession's enduring commitment to social responsibility and humanitarian service.
An Eye Check-up Camp, organised in association with ASG Eye Hospital at ICAI Bhawan, Russell Street, for the members and students. We also had the privilege of felicitating senior members of the profession who had attained the age of 75 years under ICAI's 'WE Care' Initiative, recognising their invaluable contribution, dedication and lifelong service to the profession.
Continuing our commitment towards environmental sustainability, an E-Waste Disposal Drive was organised on 2nd July 2026, encouraging responsible disposal of electronic waste and promoting sustainable environmental practices among members and society.
As part of ICAI's Vitiya Gyan Programme, a Financial and Tax Literacy Programme (Nukkad Natak) was conducted on 3rd July 2026. Through an engaging street play on "Prevention from Digital Frauds," employees of the Institute effectively highlighted the growing risks of cyber fraud and sensitised the public on preventive measures through impactful and relatable performances.
Our commitment to community welfare continued through the 'Roti on Wheels' CSR initiative on 4th July 2026, during which meals were distributed to the poor and underprivileged in the Kalighat area, reflecting ICAI's enduring commitment to compassion and inclusive social development.
The month concluded its first week with the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan – River Bank Cleaning Drive organised on 5th July 2026 at Shri Mewalal Udyan, Canal Road, Hastings, Kolkata. Conducted under ICAI's vision of the 5 Ps towards a Sustainable India—People, Peace, Planet, Prosperity and Partnership, the initiative reinforced our shared responsibility towards environmental conservation and sustainable nation-building.
