Beloved Esteemed Members and Professional Colleagues,

I extend my warm wishes for a joyous Eid Al Fitr, Poila Boishakh, Rongali Bihu, Pana Sankranti, Baisakhi, Ugadi, Puthandu, Vishu and New Financial Year 2024-25. May this new beginning bring upon remarkable achievements for us, our profession and our family.



Eastern India Regional Council of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India is in a constant dedication for the evolution and overall development of the members and students. I convey my heartfelt thankfulness to all the members standing by our side as supporters and contributors. I also wholeheartedly request all my members to come forward and join hands to ride a change in our profession. As Team EIRC we are working upon various initiatives, seminars, workshops and events beneficial for our members. I would now like to throw light on some of them:




  1. Seminar on Interplay between Tax Laws and PMLA: Organized on 19th March 2024, we were enriched with the insights on PMLA, IBC and Tax Laws and also learnt about various techniques used to prevent Misuse of Laws and avoid suppressing of Income. I convey my heartfelt gratitude to Adv. Vinay Shraff and CA Raj Singhania, the speakers of the seminar for their valuable contribution and boost up the knowledge of our members.

  2. Seminar on Bank Audit organized on 22nd March 2024 informed us about the Ins and Outs of Bank Audits - Audit of Advances, Tech Tools used through out, LFAR and many more. I convey my heartfelt thankfulness to CA Lokesh Gupta, CA Vivek Agarwal, CA Sandeep Sawaria and CA Sunirmal Chatterjee for their enriching contribution. Numerous Chartered Accountants participated with great enthusiasm and made this event to triumph with flying colours.

  3. Seminar on “How to Boost Visibility on Social Media” organized on 23rd March 2024 was pivotal in enriching the members about the facts behind and importance of Digital Presence through YouTube, Blogging and Social Media. I convey my heartfelt regards to Ms. Sanghamitra Dhar, Mr. Hemant Chabria, Mrs. Neha Rungta and CA Rahul Rungta for their valuable contribution and enriching the crowd of Present and Future Professionals. The enthusiasm amongst the attendees proved this event to be a great success.

  4. Holi Get Together 2024 and Kavi Sammelan: EIRC of ICAI in association with the Branches, Study Circles, Study Chapters and Study Groups organized Holi Get Together & Kavi Sammelan 2024 on 25th March 2024 at Dhono Dhanyo Mini Auditorium, Alipore, Kolkata. It was great to network with the professional colleagues and douse in to the mesmerizing poems. I convey my heartfelt gratitude to the Kavis – Arun Gemini, Chirag Jain, Mumtaz Naseem, Shambhu Sikhar Haldia and Sunil Vyas for their phenomenal performances.

  5. Past Leaders’ Meet - A Conclave of Past Torchbearers of the Profession: Past Leaders’ Meet - A Conclave of Past Torchbearers of the Profession was organized on 27th March 2024 at Bengal Club, Kolkata. We as the present office-bearers of EIRC were enlightened by the insights and experiences of the past leaders of EIRC and also discussed our vision and the way forward for our EIRC and profession as a whole.

  6. Inaugural of Reading Rooms: I would also like to inform you that, on 28th March 2024, Sambalpur Branch - Balangir inaugurated their Reading Rooms. It is my earnest request to the members, to utilize the facility of Reading Rooms to the fullest advantage and lead our profession to newer highs of success.

  7. Felicitation of the Flag Bearers of ICAI and EIRC of ICAI: Bhubaneswar Branch and Cuttack Branch organized Felicitation of President of ICAI and EIRC Office Bearers on 29th March 2024 at Hotel Mayfair Convention, Bhubaneswar and ICAI Bhawan, Cuttack. Team EIRC was pleased to meet the lively members from Bhubaneswar and Cuttack and we were enlightened by the insights and “DRISHTI” of ICAI as shared by our President of ICAI.

  8. Foundation Stone Laying Ceremony of ICAI Bhawan, Siliguri: On 30th March 2024, Siliguri Branch organized Foundation Stone Laying Ceremony of ICAI Bhawan, Siliguri in the presence of the President of ICAI and the EIRC office bearers. I convey my heartiest best wishes to all the members from Siliguri.

  9. One Day Training Programme for Peer Reviewers organized on 30th March 2024, a must attend for every present and aspiring peer reviewers to learn about the facts and figures of Peer Reviews and chalk out the way forward for CAs opting for Peer Reviews.. I convey my heartfelt thankfulness to CA. R.S. Balaji, CA. Vivek Newatia, CA. S Ramesh and CA. Pawan Agarwal for their enriching contribution.

  10. Seminar on “Audit Trail & Rotation of Auditors”: Seminar on “Audit Trail & Rotation of Auditors” headed by CA. (Dr.) Debashis Mitra, Past President of ICAI on 1st April 2024 was one of the most enriching seminars held in the past few days. We were enlightened with the whereabouts of Audit Trail, its significance and techniques used. We also came to know about the insights and significance of the concepts behind Rotation of Auditors.

  11. International Seminar on “New Age Technology and it’s Impact on Financial Domain”: Hosted by The Bhawanipur Eduation Society College and organized by Department of Commerce in collaboration with Board of Studies (Academic), ICAI and IQAC, BESC on 1st April 2024. It was a great event accompanied by quality interactions with the motivated students and future professionals.

  12. Workshop on “Top 10 Things To Learn in Computers for Senior Professionals” (50:50) organized jointly with Vitta Salahkar CA CPE Study Circle of EIRC of ICAI on 13th April 2024 at Computer Centre, ICAI Bhawan, Russell Street, Kolkata. Numerous Senior Professionals participated with great zeal and enthusiasm to learn about the Ins and Outs of Technology driving our profession today. I convey my warm regards to CA. Sumit Bihani, CA. Rishi Bhuwalka and CA. Rishita Das for their impeccable efforts in enlightening the senior professionals.



WE as Team EIRC have been coming up with various drives and initiatives for the benefits of the members and students. Some of the notable initiatives are:




  1. Initiative to accumulate funds for Chartered Accountants Benevolent Fund (CABF): We as Team EIRC have come up with a drive from 1st April 2024 to accumulate Rs. 75,00,000 (Rupees Seventy Five Lakhs) by 15th August 2024. CABF is a fund maintained by ICAI to extend a helping hand of brotherhood to the members in distress.     I am also overwhelmed to inform you that with a span of 15 Days we have already accumulated approximately ? 2,23,601 (Rupees Two Lakhs Twenty Three Thousand Six Hundred and One) from Members.

  2. Initiative to utilize OCR for Correction of Mock Test Papers: Technology is the New Normal. We must be in a constant hustle to employ Tech in our daily workflows. Team EIRC has thus come up with an initiative to make use of Optical Character Recognition (OCR) using a Document Scanner: Fujitsu ScanSnap SV600 to examine the Mock Test Papers of the future Chartered Accountants utilizing lesser resources and time.

  3. Initiative to Record all the seminars: Team EIRC has come forward to record every seminar being organized, which would then be uploaded to the YouTube Channel of EIRC. I believe, such recorded seminars would result to better visibility of important agendas and also promote quick references to such agendas.




Warren Bennis once said "Leadership is the capacity to translate vision into reality". I as the Chairman of EIRC of ICAI for 2024-25 have knitted a vision for the upcoming future of our profession in Eastern India:




  1. Recording Room at ICAI Bhawan, Russell Street, Kolkata: WE as Team EIRC are coming up to set a recording room at ICAI Bhawan, Russell Street, Kolkata. The sole purpose of the recording room is to promote new speakers to come forward and enrich the members of EIRC of ICAI. We look forward to those days when speakers would be recording their lectures in the recording room utilizing the cutting-edge technology and modern facilities to enrich our present and future members from every corner of our region.

  2. Best Practices for SMPs: WE are coming up with a cloud based repository for Standardized and Best Applicable Reports, Forms, Returns and much more that can be of immense help for small and medium scale practice firms of Chartered Accountants. A practitioner can access and refer the documents anytime and anywhere to maintain the best possible standardized format when creating a similar document for their clientele.

  3. WE - Theme for 49th Regional Conference: “WE” the Chartered Accountants have been the Partners in the Nation Building have been supporting our economy forging from the past 75 Years. We have been adapting to the dynamic landscape of our profession and transforming our clientele and the nation, integrating Technology and engaging as Multi-Disciplinary Practitioners.



The 49th Regional Conference is being organized at Biswa Bangla Mela Prangan featuring 75 Dignitaries and 5,000+ Delegates. Join us for the two days of Togetherness with Professional Colleagues and Industry Experts. Thereby Gaining unexplored Insights into Global Practices, Tech Automation and every aspect of Multi-Dimensional Evolution of our fraternity.



I also invite you all to come forward as new speakers under our initiative Speaker @ 75 and also contribute articles for our monthly newsletter.



Recalling the words of Henry Ford, "Coming together is a beginning, staying together is progress, and working together is success" I conclude this message for the month.
